Paheli- Scene II

Scene ii

itting outside a hospital corridor, Arpeeta was a bit anxious as she was alone in the hospital while her sister was going through the labour pains of her third pregnancy. She was looking so different from today, she looked in her 22 and was wearing a red knee-lenght finely printed skirt and a short green tank top, and wearing lots of silver bangles and number of lockets in lots of chains, she was also wearing number of funky rings even two or three in one finger. And her hairs having number of streaks of wild colours of blue, green, blonde, orange, etc and her look was completed by long boots, she was Miss Arpeeta Brown, the topper of under-gradutate course of English literature.
Arpeeta and Anamika were adopted kids of Mr. and Mrs. Brown. Anamika was just 3 when she was brought to the house and so was Arpeeta after 10 years. They were apples of the eyes of their parents. Anamika married Aparajeet 10 years ago and rest is the same history of world.
Just then entered Jeet, he said “Appy, tell me what happened? Is Ana fine? Are the twins fine?”
Before she could reply, the doctor came and announced that its was a girl and a boy and Ana wanted to meet Appy and Jeet. When they went in, they looked at a very faded face of her sister who was still on the operation bed, she went closer and sat on the stool beside the bed and he stood beside Appy, Ana said “Appy I’m going to survive only few hours and maybe I may not see the sun of tomorrow. I want a mother for my 5 kids, Appy promise me that you will live by them as I don’t want that they are tortured due to death of their mother. Appy promise you will not leave my kids alone, promise me. Your sister is asking the last favour of her life, give me that, let my soul lie in peace.” Appy in tear bounds only replied “Yes Ana, Yes, I promise”
To honour the last wish of Ana, Arpeeta and Aparajeet married that night only, Anamika left the young adolescent Arpeeta with a burden of a family of 5- a man who was in his late 30s, to be exact 37. Twins of 7 years of age- Akshay and Ankita, a girl of 3 years- Aradhana and the newly born twins, Archita and Arjun. The person who was a free bird till one moment is now the mother of 5 and the wife of most influential businessman in the world.
That the person who came home was their “Masi-Ma” and now their “Maa” . the only Maa  they believed.

Paheli- Scene I

here was some hustle in room. It was informed that Mrs Arpeeta Aparajeet Deb was to come here to take up a press conference on her new book “Anamika: A Tribute”

Well who didn’t knew Arpeeta Deb in this small world. She was one of the most famous , radical and best-selling author. One don’t understand how someone can be so talented that one can give such a huge variety of books and all of them to best sellers. Her success story is not small, it includes “Kitchen Tables vs. Conference Tables” a famous book on conflict over women on choosing their priorities; “Tiffanies and Ambrosias”, a critical book desserts from all over the world and ones list can be endless s this only makes her most known writer of England and too just at the age of 35.

                      And here people were busy arranging the event in the best possible way. She was to arrive at 3 pm and everybody knew she is always in time. It was 2:45 when her personal security entered. From her security one could easily come to know that today she would we accompanied with Aparajeet Deb. The man behind her, beside her and because of him she existed and the man of her life. He is very famous businessman with a world around business. Some say that what “Dandy's” doesn’t produce.

                        The arranging staff was just retiring from sideways. They saw the glimpse of the lady. She was wearing white saree with broad red borders in typical Bengali pattern. She was also wearing lots of jewellary, looked not more than her 30s and the man looked in his late 40s and looked quite old. And this was expected as Arpeeta was the second wife of Mr. Deb.

                        She entered the room, the press reporters gave her a round of applause for her for winning the most prestigious Bookers Prize for the category of Ficiton and then started their questionnaire as she was famous for answering every question and none of her answer was   “No Comments”' journalists also enjoyed her interviews. One of the most common question and interesting question was “People don’t like to remember their Sautens or co-wives and you wrote a whole tribunal novel over her. How’s is it possible?”

                       She answered confidently and her answer stunned everybody a lot, she said “Who says I am sauten of Anamika dii, she was my elder sister not my co-wife. I am just her shadow.”

Things went back to 13 years earlier date, the date was 5th October 1997.
